Veterinarians need for rapidly growing AAHA-certified small animal hybrid practice in NE Ohio (Salem). We are looking for a full-time and part-time veterinarian that can stay humorous in a fast pace, growing, long established and very busy small animal practice providing quality medicine to a large client base. We are a full-service multi-doctor hospital with in-house lab, digital radiology/ultrasound, large treatment area, full surgery suite and all the equipment you need to manage your patients. Our services include Wellness, Sick, Surgery, Urgent care, Critical care, ICU and daytime Emergency services. Our staff can get the job done and still have fun doing it.

We are open 7 days a week with doctors sharing weekends. The average work week is 40 - 45 hours per week. The community is supportive, and we pull clients in from as far as 50 miles away. However, we have clients that travel all over so we also have clients in Canada, Florida, Arizona, Texas, Washington and Hawaii.
With Mentoring and additional training for new grads, they will be able to manage small animal preventative care, surgery cases, internal medicine cases and daytime emergency cases. Surgery and emergency skills are taught or mentored.

Individuals should have the desire to provide modern medicine to old problems, have a "I can do it" attitude, have strong communication skills and be comfortable providing client education; be able to work in a team environment and provide staff with written and verbal directions, able to multi-task and use computer and should have flexibility for schedules.
Doctors rotate after hour on-call service, but don't let this scare you off. The service is meant to answers questions as to medications, go home instructions and whether patient needs to be referred to the ER. On call duties do not require coming in for emergencies unless that is what you want to do. If you provide emergency services after hours there is a bonus attached to each after hour emergency you perform. However, you are not required to perform after hour emergency services, only answer questions.

Additional Salary Information: Benefits: $5,000 sign on bonus. Excellent benefits including 6 days paid time off in the first year with an additional 6 days added the second year, paid sick leave up to 5 days per year, paid CE (lodging and travel expenses are included), and licensing fees, copay on health insurance, and liability/malpractice insurance 100% paid. Quality of life for doctors and staff is important to the welfare of the hospital. Our doctors and staff have families and we make sure our doctors and staff have their family time and aren’t worked to death. After hour emergencies are referred to local emergency centers but doctors have the option of seeing the emergency and treating it. If veterinarian does see an after hour emergency, they are compensated by receiving all of the after hour ER exam fee as a bonus.

We have a large waiting room split into two sections to divide dogs and cats. We are open 7 days a week with doctors rotating weekends. The average work week is 40 - 55 hours per week. The community is supportive and we pull clients in from 30 - 50 miles away.
Community profile: The hospital is in a small town that is minutes away from several large metropolitan areas (Youngstown, Akron, Canton, Cleveland and Pittsburg). There are small manufacturing companies and smaller service companies provide jobs for the area residents. Lordstown GM plant and Delphi are within 20 minutes for additional jobs for area residents. The downtown is an active and viable environment with friendly and helpful business people. There is a community theater for those interested in musical and plays. There is a country club with a golf course, a community center with gym facilities and pool, and several small local lakes for boating and fishing. Parks and hiking facilities are close by. The grade school and secondary schools are excellent for those individuals interested in them for children. Kent State University has a branch just outside Salem for more advanced studies. Cars and trucks are a big thing in our area and we have several community activities associated with them. Quaker Raceway is just outside town for the car enthusiast. Major highways to all parts of the country within minutes of Salem. We may be a small community but we have much to offer.
