Pet+ER of Towson, MD is seeking a Veterinary Technician Manager for our busy 24-hour emergency critical care hospital!
Who are we?
Having served the Baltimore area for 25 years, Pet+ER Towson is in the process of exponential growth! We are a dedicated group of 13 veterinarians (Boarded Criticalists, Emergency DVMs and Specialty Interns) with a large support staff. We also have the ability to collaborate with a group of veterinary specialists in-house to provide outstanding veterinary care. Our priority is advanced diagnostics, treatment and providing patients and their owners with the best veterinary care possible.
Who are you?
We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Technician (preferably with VTS in ECC) who possesses a skillset that includes leadership, the ability to collaborate, time management, organization, strong technical ability, excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
The tech manager is responsible for enforcing all practice policies and protocols, working in conjunction with the Hospital Administrator and Medical Director, as well as participating as a team player and projecting a positive attitude with all employees.
Essential Position Responsibilities:
Serves as a subject-matter expert and resource to Technicians and Assistants regarding daily operations, patient care and skill development
Serves as a mentor to the team by demonstrating positive work habits, effective clinical skills and medical knowledge
Coaches team to create a culture of high productivity and strong performance
Clearly communicates with team members to ensure consistent understanding of new protocols, changes in process, policies and impending changes
Identifies conflicts in the workplace and seeks assistance in resolution in order to create effective working relationships
Documents performance-related issues, assesses team members during the review process and provides hospital leadership with recommendations related to performance management and discipline
Builds positive relationships across the hospital and administration to facilitate an environment of team work
Coordinates and executes regular training sessions with the team to ensure advancement of individual and team skills
Creates effective working relationships with hospital leadership to ensure standards of care are understood, effectively communicated and delivered upon
Demonstrates a highly advanced skillset and proficiency as a Veterinary Technician and has the ability to both retain and teach that skillset which includes: daily care of critical and stable patients, triage, perform CPR on crashing patients, medication administration (all routes), drug calculations, IV catheter placement, Blood draws, running lab samples, Doppler blood pressures, central line placement, CVP measurement, NG tube placement, nasal oxygen line placement, urinary catheter placement, perform digital radiographs, reading of blood smears, urine and fecal slides, as well as anesthesia monitoring and assist doctor during procedure
The Technician Manager is responsible for working 5 shifts (approximately 40hrs) a week, including two weekends a month and rotating holidays. Salaried compensation is based on experience.
