The Humane Society for Greater Savannah is seeking a Registered Veterinarian Technician to work in our high quality, high volume spay/neuter clinic, Pet Fix Savannah.

Pet Fix Savannah's Registered Veterinary Technician is responsible for the comfort and safety of all surgical patients in their care, and for supporting our spay/neuter surgery team in accordance with our high quality standards and SOPs. Training will take place in Asheville, NC at our mentor organization Humane Alliance.

In addition to providing surgical support, our Registered Veterinary Technician is responsible for leading the medical support team during surgery, handling and logging controlled substances, educating and sharing medical information with staff and clients, and promoting Pet Fix Savannah and our mission within the community.
Our candidates must be Registered Veterinary Technicians and have a current license, or be eligible for a license, to practice veterinary technology in Georgia. Experience in a high volume spay/neuter clinic is preferred, however training is available for candidates with a strong desire and aptitude to become successful support staff for our surgeons and who demonstrate a commitment and fit.
Responsible for providing exceptional client and patient care. Acting as the extra eyes, ears and hands for the veterinarian to deliver the highest quality care from intake to discharge.
Works closely with Clinic Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Assistants, Director of Public Programs and other Clinic staff.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Handle and track controlled substances for large volumes of surgical patients.
Efficiently pre-medicate and induce all patients, and intubate all canines in the facility.
Ensure prompt and accurate paperwork procedures are followed each day.
Communicate with clients and assist with rechecks as needed.
Supervise beginning and end-of-shift duties.
Direct and assist staff members as needed.
Knowledge and ability to intake and release patients, including delivering post-operative instructions in a competent and friendly manner.
Assists with public intake and release of patients.
Cleaning of facility and surgical pack preparation as assigned. All other duties as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Effectively “team lead,” displaying a positive attitude and acting as a motivating force for all staff members.
Humane Society for Greater Savannah is a non-profit, limited admission, animal welfare group that serves Chatham County and surrounding areas. We focus on small animals and have an adoption center is open 6 days/week. In addition, the Humane Society has opened a community low-cost, high-volume, high-quality, spay/neuter clinic, Pet Fix Savannah.
