Baker College Professional Services, Inc. seeks to hire an individual to be assigned to the position of MEDICAL DIRECTOR/PROGRAM DIRECTOR – VETERINARY TECHNOLOGY (FULL-TIME OR PART-TIME) for the benefit of and to be located at Baker College of Cadillac.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
To provide medical supervision of the Veterinary Technology program with the assurance that the program’s curriculum is medically accurate and appropriate. Medical director also participates in course delivery and student competency evaluations.
The program director provides leadership and management of all aspects of an academic program by providing discipline-specific expertise, supervising staff and faculty members, addressing students’ needs, and maintaining a required teaching load.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and current Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) license required
Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration required
General knowledge of anesthesia, emergency procedures, and care of hospitalized patients, including general surgery required
Minimum of 3 years of current clinical experience required
College teaching experience preferred
Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills
Ability to lift and maneuver independently up to 50 lbs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide the sponsoring institution, Baker College, with medical oversight for the academic program.
Review and approves course content, overall curriculum, and assessment measures for medical accuracy and appropriateness.
Attend and participates in delivery of course lectures and practical examinations, as applicable, to gauge the quality of practical instruction and students’ skill levels.
Work in conjunction with program officials to review terminal competency levels for all students and sign verification forms, if applicable.
Periodically review quality of faculty instruction.
Periodically review program equipment to assure it is up-to-date and that supplies are sufficient.
Act as a key advisory board member, ensuring that members’ input is reflected in program enhancements.
Manage class and learning environments:
Teach a specified number of classes.
Maintain attendance records, submit grades on time, and provide constructive student feedback.
Utilize the College’s Learning Management System in accordance with the usage expectations.
Deliver effective instruction:
Assume primary responsibility and exercise oversight of the required curriculum, ensuring both rigor for course/program and the quality of instruction.
Design and support a range of learning activities to engage all learners.
Use technology appropriate to the nature and objectives of the course/program outcomes and communicate clearly the expectations concerning the use to students.
